CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

Is there still a federal tax credit for buying an EV?

No. The federal clean vehicle tax credits for new, used and leased electric and plug-in vehicles ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. Some states, cities and electric utilities still offer their own rebates, tax credits or charging incentives, and these change often. Check your state energy office, your utility's website and the Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center at afdc.energy.gov for current programs, and confirm eligibility rules before you buy.

General information, not legal or financial advice; rules vary by state and lender.
