CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is a flood-damaged car and how can I spot one?
A flood car has been submerged or soaked, which can cause hidden electrical, rust and mold problems that appear months later. Check the title and a history report for flood brands, and look for musty smells, damp or new carpet, silt or water lines in the trunk, under seats or in the spare-tire well, corrosion under the dash, and fogged lights. After major storms, be extra careful, and get an independent inspection.
