CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What should I look for when inspecting a used car myself?
Check that the VIN on the dashboard, door jamb and title match. Look for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, rust, fluid leaks, tire wear and tread depth, and warning lights. Start it cold if possible, listen for noises, test all electronics, and drive on varied roads. OffLot's Open lot mode gives you a phone checklist covering VIN matching, a walk-around, tires, a cold start and a real-route test drive. Still get a professional inspection.
