CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

How do I get an itemized quote from a car dealer?

Ask in writing, by email or text, for an itemized out-the-door quote on a specific vehicle by stock number or VIN. Request each line separately: vehicle price, any discounts or rebates, add-ons, doc fee, tax, title and registration, and trade-in credit if applicable. Ask how long the quote is valid. A written quote makes comparison easy and gives you a reference if numbers change at signing. If a dealer won't put it in writing, that is useful information too.
