CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is the difference between towing capacity and payload?
Towing capacity is how much weight a vehicle can pull behind it; payload is how much it can carry in the cabin and bed, including passengers, cargo and the trailer's tongue weight. Payload is often the limit people hit first, especially with a family and a heavy camper. Find the exact payload on the door-jamb sticker of the specific vehicle, since options and trim can reduce it.
