CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is the difference between an EV, a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid?
An EV (battery electric vehicle) runs only on electricity from a battery you charge by plugging in. A hybrid combines a gas engine with an electric motor and small battery that recharges itself through braking and the engine, so you never plug it in. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) has a larger battery you can charge to drive a limited distance on electricity, then it runs like a regular hybrid. On OffLot, you can filter by electric, hybrid and plug-in fuel types.
