CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

Does financing a car help build credit?

It can. An auto loan is an installment account, and on-time payments reported to the credit bureaus help build a positive history and may improve your credit mix. Late or missed payments do the opposite and can hurt significantly. Confirm that your lender reports to all three major bureaus, especially with smaller or buy here pay here lenders. Setting up autopay is an easy way to avoid missed payments.
