Sophie can explain what recalls are and why to check them, and OffLot's Open lot mode reminds you to ask about open recalls. For the official answer on a specific vehicle, enter its 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, which is free. Recall repairs are generally done free by the manufacturer's dealers. In the OffLot preview, VINs are simulated, so look up real VINs when you shop for a real vehicle.
