CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
Do electric cars need less maintenance?
Generally, yes. EVs have no engine oil, spark plugs, timing belts or exhaust systems, and regenerative braking often reduces brake wear. You still need tire rotations and replacements, cabin air filters, wiper blades, brake fluid, coolant service for the battery system on many models, and periodic inspections. EVs can be heavier and may wear tires faster. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule in the owner's manual, which may also include software updates.
