CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is regenerative braking?
Regenerative braking uses the electric motor as a generator when you slow down, turning some of the car's motion back into electricity stored in the battery. EVs and hybrids use it to improve efficiency, and it reduces wear on the regular brakes. Many EVs offer one-pedal driving, where lifting off the accelerator slows the car strongly. The regular friction brakes still work and still need periodic inspection, and brake fluid needs servicing per the maintenance schedule.
