CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

What is the EV battery warranty?

Federal rules require the high-voltage battery and other key components of EVs and hybrids to be covered as emissions parts, generally for at least 8 years or 100,000 miles, and some states require longer coverage for certain vehicles. Many EV battery warranties also cover capacity loss below a set percentage within that period. Terms vary by manufacturer, so read the warranty booklet for that model year. The warranty usually transfers to later owners for the remaining time and miles.
