What does days on market mean for a car listing?

Days on market is how long a vehicle has been listed for sale. Cars that have sat longer cost the dealer more to keep in inventory, so they sometimes see price reductions, while very fresh listings may have less flexibility. It's a useful fact, not a guarantee of a lower price, since some vehicles sit because of price, color, equipment or condition.
