CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What does out-the-door price mean?
The out-the-door price is the total you pay to drive the vehicle away: the agreed sale price plus sales tax, title and registration, the dealer's documentation fee, and any add-ons or other charges, minus any rebates and your trade-in credit. It is the most useful number to compare between dealers because it can't hide fees elsewhere. On OffLot, every vehicle page includes an out-the-door estimate under "What this vehicle really costs," built from the price plus an illustrative 6.25% tax and $685 in fees.
