CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
Can I cancel an extended warranty or GAP after buying the car?
Often yes, but rules vary by contract and state. Many service contracts and GAP products can be canceled for a full refund within a short window, often around 30 to 60 days if no claims were filed, and for a prorated refund after that, sometimes minus a cancellation fee. Your contract explains how. If the product was financed, the refund usually goes toward your loan balance rather than to you. Send the cancellation request in writing and keep a copy.
