CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is the rent charge on a lease?
The rent charge is the financing cost of a lease, similar to interest on a loan. Each month it's typically calculated by adding the adjusted cap cost and the residual value, then multiplying by the money factor. Over the full term, it represents what you pay the lessor for using its money. A lower money factor or lower cap cost reduces it. Your lease disclosure should show the total rent charge.
