CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What is dealer invoice price, and can I find it?
Invoice price is the amount the manufacturer bills the dealer for a new vehicle, before any later rebates or holdback paid back to the dealer. Several pricing guides and car research sites publish estimated invoice figures for new models and trims, and some dealers will show you the invoice if you ask. Treat it as a rough reference, not the dealer's real bottom line. For used cars there is no invoice; the dealer's cost depends on what they paid at trade-in or auction plus reconditioning.
