CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

Can I remove dealer add-ons from the price?

Often you can ask. Some add-ons, like paint protection, nitrogen-filled tires, window etching or anti-theft packages, are optional, and you can decline them or negotiate their price. If an item is already installed, the dealer may still be willing to reduce or remove the charge. The FTC advises shoppers to know what they're paying for and that optional products aren't required to buy a car. Ask about removable add-ons before signing.
