CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS
What does a salvage title mean?
A salvage title means an insurer or owner declared the vehicle a total loss, often due to accident, flood, fire or theft damage, usually because repair costs exceeded a certain share of its value. Rules for what qualifies vary by state. A car with a salvage title generally can't be legally driven on public roads until it is repaired, inspected and retitled, often as rebuilt or reconstructed.
