Does the price of a used car include reconditioning?

Usually the advertised price already reflects what the dealer spent reconditioning the car, but some dealers add a separate reconditioning, prep or certification fee on top. Ask whether the listed price includes all dealer charges besides tax, title, registration and the doc fee. If there's an extra reconditioning line, ask what work was done and request records. The FTC-required Buyers Guide on the window will also tell you whether the car is sold as-is or with a warranty.
