CAR-BUYING QUESTIONS

What does 'as is' mean on a used car Buyers Guide?

As is means the dealer is not providing a warranty, so you are responsible for repairs after the sale, subject to your state's laws. The FTC Used Car Rule requires dealers to post a Buyers Guide on used cars that says whether the vehicle is sold as is or with a warranty, and what the warranty covers. Some states limit or prohibit as is sales. Any remaining factory warranty may still apply, and getting an independent inspection before buying is wise.
